Time of day

Did you know that some people actually have a time of the day where they write better? It's true, mine is late at night, if I'm still awake! It's more comfortable for me during that time period. I'm alone, my surroundings can be how I want... Pure bliss. But what if you write out of your comfort zone. Ideas that may have never come to you flow out of your imagination.

Try it, and see what happens, maybe it will be the start of the next big hit:3

One year

Yesterday marked the one year anniversary of my fan page on Facebook. A lot has happened in a year!!! I am an unpublished author and I have managed to make 536 fans, a wonderful writer's group and I started this blog. Also I plan on having a book out in the next year or two...

Needless to say, a lot has happened, simply because I kept at it! It may sound cheesy, but it's true when they say, have a dream, go for it!:D

I refuse to give up, I will keep reaching for my dream until the end...

Although that dream starts with writing a book, and right now I'm far too lazy to write. Luckily I have plenty of time!

I've considered taking the self-publishing route by co-writing a piece with another author. It seems that the process itself is easy, but the total of cost is fairly expensive, especially for someone my age. It's the same as any business, expensive to start, but it all works out in the end... That is, only if you stick to it. I plan on sticking by my dream...

So maybe self-publishing will be a great first step towards my dream of being an author!

There is always two-half's to every whole.
A glass being half empty
A glass being half full
In a way, so is the creature called man.
You may see one thing on the outside,
his life full of glitter and gold
But what on the inside?
What you don't know is that it is very cold
How fragile they are, how a single comment hurt
Sure they have a smile on the outside, but do not be fooled
For he is crying for help
He is crying for you

Summer is drawing close, meaning no school. It also means more free time to write. Although I have all this time to spare, to get so much done in my projects, I never have the motivation. If anything, it seems that I write less in the summer ...But why?

Is it because I feel the need to write more in school because I have less time? Or is it because the 'curse of summer break' affects me? Regardless, this year I will do my best to beat the lazy feeling. I want to accomplish more, so I'll have to fight.

Let summer begin!

The cost of writing

What would you do for the things you love? Me...well that would be a lot, and I hope you all know I'm talking about my books.

Not even an hour ago, a tornado touched down in my town. We had to flee to the basement, taking only our most valuable possessions. For me, that included my laptop, purse, and of course all my stories. I had to carry 16 of them down in bags to the basement. Now remember, I'm not published. These are all in notebooks, and the only copy of them I have. If I lost one, I'd never get it back.

I refused to go down into the basement, not unless I had my stories.

I carried them down and waited. After thirty minutes we went upstairs, dragging everything out of our basement, a basement that hasn't been remodeled since at least 1900. The ground was soaked, our feet splashing in the water. The ceiling covered in cobwebs, nearly hitting our heads. The only light was a flickering light bulb. Needless to say, our basement isn't the place you want to be.

After we reached the top the alarm went off again. I had to take everything back downstairs!! In the end we were safe, but sweat covered my body. I was sore, I wanted to collapse on the floor and sleep. Instead I got on here!

Writing is what I love, I'd do anything for it... Even die for it.

Six Traits of Writing Defined

'Six Traits of Writing Defined'

That is the heading of the paper my English teacher passed out today. We are writing college essays, and we have to sell ourselves in only 500 words. Not much in the least. He said that the essays are critiqued on the basis of six traits, things that all writers use-especially authors. They are:
Word Choice
Sentence Fluency
and Conventions

All are important, but he told us the most important thing, as the trait that is the hardest for anyone, is voice. Voice isn't something that you can learn in a book, or get the answer from a friend. No, voice is something only you can find. It gives your piece a sense of life, showing that the words sprawled on the pages came from a real person, with real emotions.

Voice is still something I have yet to find. A voice and style... Better yet, it's something I don't know how to describe. Interviewers will ask what is your voice and style..., but I honestly have no idea how to answer it.

Hopefully with time I will be able to answer it, and will also master those crucial six traits. Only time will tell:)

Here i go!!

Alright, I plan on working on this seriously. I figure the more I work on this the easier it will be to post on here. It was the same with my page on Facebook; I didn't know how to start, but now it is second nature. Then again, it's probably like that with anything:D

I am determined to make a wonderful blog!!! >:D

Well guys I finally made a blog:D
Now what to write in it... that is the question. I want to be interesting; it seems that lots of authors simply put grammar rules in theirs, but I'm not sure.Oh well, at least I have the first step done, and that's simply making the blog. Hopefully after awhile I'll have something interesting to put in here!!:D
